Giving and receiving are not opposites.
They are rotations of the same wheel.
A community-powered mutual aid program preparing for a future where Universal Basic Income isn't just an idea—it's a practice.
In most systems, there are givers and receivers. Two separate groups. One with power, one without.
The Circle is different.
Today you give attention. Tomorrow you might receive support. Next week you donate. The month after, you're a recipient.
This is not charity. This is circulation.
We believe what flows through a community should flow back to that community. Your attention has value. Your participation generates real resources. The Circle pools that value and redistributes it—randomly, fairly, equally.
No applications judged. No favorites. No committees deciding who is worthy.
Just community taking care of community.
Why we're building this now
We are not doing this as an experiment. We are doing this because the world is changing.
Artificial Intelligence is rewriting work. Automation is displacing jobs that existed for generations. The old bargain—trade labor for income—is fracturing.
Governments move slowly. Corporations optimize for shareholders. If communities do not learn to take care of their own, who will?
We are building the muscle of mutual aid now, so that when the disruption deepens, we already know how to share. We already trust the process. We already see each other as worthy of support—not because of productivity, but because of presence.
This is a step toward Universal Basic Income—
the idea that every person deserves a foundation of security regardless of circumstance.
We start small. We start now. We learn by doing.
The Circle never stops. Every week, value flows from the community back to the community. The more the community grows, the more flows through The Circle.

The Circle grows when the community gives.
Every donation directly increases the weekly pool. More funds means more recipients. More recipients means more impact.
You don't give to a faceless institution. You give to the person sitting next to you in the comments. The one watching the same sermon. The one seeking the same answers.

Why random selection?
Why don't we evaluate applications? Why not prioritize the "most deserving"?
Because we cannot see what we cannot see.
Committees introduce bias. Judgment introduces favoritism. The moment humans decide who is worthy, politics enters.
Randomness removes all of that.
"The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the Lord."
— Proverbs 16:33
Leadership cannot pick friends or allies
Every eligible member has the exact same chance
The process is transparent enough to be trusted
We acknowledge we cannot perfectly assess need
The algorithm has no favorites. That is the point.

"I didn't think I'd be selected. I almost didn't apply. But the money came at exactly the right moment—my car had broken down and I couldn't get to work. The Circle got me back on the road."
— Recipient, Week 12"It's not just the money. It's knowing that strangers care. That a community I've never met in person actually shows up for each other."
— Recipient, Week 8"I've donated twice and received once. That's how it should be. The wheel keeps turning."

Giving or receiving—you are part of the same wheel.
If you have, give.
If you need, apply.
If you're unsure, participate—and see where the wheel takes you.
